Perfect Peace
Updated: Jun 30
It's been too long since the words have flown from my heart. With a few days off of motherhood, I have found time to be in perfect peace with the sound of silence. There are a few distinct sounds of chirping birds and a view of grass dancing in the wind. And for that, I am grateful.
I've heard that given the time and opportunity, nothing new will be formulated. No new thoughts or ideas. Not even a original song or tune. But I find comfort in repetition, as I know some of you do as well. I don't offer up the saying of "chance" anymore, as I know all good things come from the Lord. He goes before us. His peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard you minds in Christ Jesus.
What we hear, we are MEANT to hear. But we are oftentimes tempted by worldly sounds and forget to hear God's voice. Because there is so much noise, so many thorns choking the seeds which were sown for you. What ground will you plant yourself and grow on?
In my bible study group this week, I gave a short testimony of my #dgroup experience which included repetition of specific scripture from multiple different sources throughout the week. I mean there are 31,102 verses in the bible.. how could "chance" have it that I hear the same scripture 3 times in a week? From various sources. God is all over that. There just isn't a statistical way to explain it.
So the verse that has already come up twice this week is Isaiah 26:3 which says:
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."
Now, if you've watched the show #thechosen then you've heard the characters say, "Shalom, shalom." I've adopted this saying as it is much more personal to me than "hello, how are you?" The wish, the reminder, the prayer, the words perfect peace, point us to Jesus every time. We have perfect peace available at each moment because of His living sacrifice. It never made sense to me before, how; me a sinner could be immediately forgiven for my faults. Until it did. It is a new self, that practices daily to have spiritual discipline above all other disciplines.
The study we just started is on the disciplines of grace, and I can't wait to exercise this spiritual muscle. For myself, but also for others. If we want to get better at something but never work for it, we would never get better. So, here is to working out extending and receiving grace upon grace from my Lord and savior.
Grace & peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Many blessings,
Your SIC (Sister in Christ), Hillary Kate
